Daal Tadka โ€“ Simple & Comforting Desi Food

When you want something warm, light, and full of flavor, daal tadka is the perfect choice. This dish is made with soft lentils and topped with spicy tadka (tempered spices). It smells amazing and tastes even better! ๐Ÿ˜‹

๐Ÿ“‹ Ingredients:

For Daal:

  • 1/2 cup yellow moong daal or toor daal
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste

For Tadka (Tempering):

  • 2 tablespoons oil or ghee ๐Ÿงˆ
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 2โ€“3 garlic cloves (chopped) ๐Ÿง„
  • 1 dried red chili ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ
  • A pinch of red chili powder
  • Fresh coriander for garnish ๐ŸŒฟ

๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿณ Steps to Make:

  1. Wash the daal properly and boil it in a pot with 2 cups water, salt, and turmeric. Cook until daal becomes soft.
  2. Mash it a little with a spoon and keep aside.

Now make tadka (tempering):
3. Heat oil or ghee in a small pan. Add cumin seeds and chopped garlic.
4. When garlic turns golden, add red chili and chili powder.
5. Quickly pour this tadka over the boiled daal.

  1. Mix once and garnish with chopped coriander.
