Kheer – Traditional Rice Pudding with Milk & Sugar

Kheer is one of the oldest and most loved desi desserts. It is made with rice, milk, and sugar. It’s sweet, creamy, and full of love. People make it for weddings, Eid, parties, or just to enjoy a special day.

📋 Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup rice (soaked for 30 minutes)
  • 1 liter full cream milk 🥛
  • 1/2 cup sugar (or as needed)
  • 3–4 cardamoms (elaichi)
  • A few saffron strands (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped almonds or pistachios (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon condensed milk (optional)

👨‍🍳 Steps to Make:

  1. Boil milk in a heavy-bottom pan. Add cardamoms and stir.
  2. Add soaked rice. Cook on low flame. Keep stirring often.
  3. After 30–40 minutes, the rice will become soft and milk will become thick.
  4. Add sugar and cook for 5 more minutes.
  5. Add saffron or condensed milk if using.
  6. Turn off the flame and garnish with chopped dry fruits.
  7. Serve warm or chill it in the fridge and enjoy cold! ❄️
